Not alot to report for the first four days. I mainly got up went to work came home and practised on my dulcimer. Thursday they held the suprise shower for Yoko at work. We got a lot of gifts including a new Weber grill and a waffle maker. They had called me earlier to see if I could join them but it was during work. I told them ,"NO GAMES!" Yoko hates the traditional showers so they got her out of her office and decorated it with purple streemers and pictures of Elvis. I wondered in turn if anyone would do something for me at work ... I wasn't expecting gifts but maybe a cake. Well I didn't get anything like that but I did get warm wishes and handshakes from John D. and Bruce. Left work and shook the dust from my shoes as I was leaving.
The only other thing of real note during this period is that they are bidding around Jim L. who is fighting throat cancer. Several of us have voiced our displeasure with this. All we askl is to treat him the same as others have been treated. Regis bid on a schedual in two consecutive bids. We all knew he wasn't coming back. Jim at least has a return date in June. The last thing he needs is to have an additional worry.
Friday, I got up and deposited the money for the hotel. Some of the money was so bad it wouldn't go through the counter. You know after the 3rd or 4th time it jams the machine and you have to take the machine out to retrieve the bills ... well no matter the size of the pile, I might start counting them by hand. Which is what they had to do ... eventually. Got back home ... and got a call from Bruce. He wanted to get together to go have drink, but I had to start the cleaning process. I guess that is as close as I was getting to a batchelor party :)
Saturday, We got up and went to get her hair done. There is a liquor store next to the beauty shop. The owner there is truely "King of the Beer Snobs." I always find an interesting bottle (notice I didn't say six pack ... he sells them by the bottle. Well they are Imperial quarts ... ) This time it as a brown ale that cost me $10. Lunch at PR's and a run to David's Bridal. Yoko had this flimsey wrap that matched her dress. I wanted a fake fur wrap that we had seen on line. With highs in Memphis of the 60s, I finally got my way. Victory was short lived as she told me to wait until her birthday to get her the Coach purse I had intended to get her. Once home it was cleaning and finishing a new Terri Castle cartoon and getting it up on the site. A bit rushed but it came out okay.
2 more days!
